You rearrange your understanding of "Made in China" at the start of Made in China, to be seen from Oct. 17 to Aug. 30 at the World Museum Amsterdam. There, you won't just see ancient porcelain art or a 4,500-year-old storage jar - interactive maps show the web of trade routes, from Silk Road to Belt & Road.
But the museum goes further. Fashion makers such as Feng Chen Wang and Susan Fang are given a stage with innovative designs: a futuristic suit and sustainable dresses, freshly wrapped in fashion principles interwoven with Chinese traditions. You will also find visual media such as Black Myth: Wukong and work by Chinese-Dutch artist Ting Wong - all one statement: making is now and always alive.
The installation is cleverly designed: audiovisual layers, poetry of migrant workers, mass production reflections and installation art invite you to think about symbolism, production and consumption.
